The 6 Best AR-10s

The 6 Best AR-10s - Complete Buyer Guide

We love the AR-15 here.

There are things that the AR-15 can’t do.

The AR-15 cannot handle “long action” cartridges. This means that the range or power of an AR-15 round is limited.

If you are looking to buy an AR-10 then look no further.

What We Choose

Pew Pew Tactical, along with freelance writers and other members, contributed to this review in order to provide different opinions based upon our diverse experiences with the AR-10. Our team is made up of a diverse group, including NRA instructors, CCW instructors, and former military and law enforcement personnel.

We tested dozens of AR-10s before selecting our favorites. Our criteria included reliability and shootability as well as ergonomics and value.

Best AR-10 Rifles

1. Aero Precision M5E1

We’re big Aero Precision fans.

In the AR industry, they are known as one of top quality lowers and uppers manufacturers. The company also offers a variety of build kit options, including Cerakote in limited editions.

We have many Aero builds between the Pew Pew team. Aero is a great choice for us because we’re cost-conscious, but also like quality.

What about the M5E1 now that we have all of this out of the picture? Why is it included in my list of best AR-10s? You’re welcome, my friend.

The Aero Precision M5E1 complete rifle is constructed with Aero’s M5E1 lower and Enhanced Upper, which can be purchased separately or together for a custom build.

How does it shoot?

Never forget to use good ammo when you test a gun.

We believe that the gun can achieve accuracy of 1 MOA or less with handloads.

Eric went with a complete Aero AR-10 Upper, but I chose a more customized route for my AR-10 6.5 Creedmoor.

The Aero Builder’s Kits are very flexible. I began with an Aero Precision M5E1 FDE Build Kit and a Magpul PRS FDE stock.

Then I added a Criterion heavy bar, VG6 muzzlebrake, Aero lower parts, Radian Raptor Charging Handle, and Aero BCG with JP enterprise bolt.

The experience was outstanding. This rifle has been through well over 500 rounds with no malfunctions.

Bottom line? The M5E1 platform is solid, whether it’s in.308 caliber or 6.5 Creedmoor. It can also be customized with Aero-built or custom parts.

2. LWRCi Repro Mk II 7.62 Rifle

It’s pronounced Reaper, which you can either find cool, or too “edgy teenage with dark eyeliner,” according to your point of view.

A gun’s name has never made it perform better or worse. Infomercials tell you that the only thing that matters is whether it will blend.

In this case it will blend. Shoot. Just go with the weird metaphor.

LWRC created the R.E.P.R. The CSASS competition (Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System), which was held by the military, required LWRC to create the first version of R.E.P.R. They did not do badly, even though they lost the contract to H&K.

The main difference between the MKII and the LWRCi is the gas system. The gas system can be adjusted to 20 positions, as opposed to only two settings on the original R.E.P.R gas block.

What is the best way to shoot? It’s really good. Okay, freakin’ great!

Matt fired five rounds at 200 yards using Federal Gold Medal Match 175 GR. If you’re playing along at your home, this is a performance of a half MOA.

The R.E.P.R is not only incredibly accurate, but also extremely well-built. Although the price is high, you do get what you paid for.

3. Daniel Defense DD5

Daniel Defense You should know that Ürün makes quality products. The company has a lot of military contracts and for good reason. They are reliable, their guns work well and they always fire.

Specifications

  • The barrel and handguard attachments are fastened using a four-bolt system
  • Geissele SSA with 2.5-lb. precision trigger. take-up
  • Dual ejectors, oversized cam pins, and enhanced extractor geometry
  • Lower receiver with flared magazine well and oversized trigger guard

How does it shoot?

It’s like a dream. It’s been used to kill deer. It’s rung the 800 meter gong. We have put a half mag into a hole of half an inch at 100 yards. I’ve never had any problems with this gun, and I didn’t expect to.

The gun will perform its role if you are willing to do so.

You get what you buy, especially with this gun and LWRC.

You don’t with some guns. And when it comes expensive guns such as these, the price tag becomes harder to justify. These guns are all worth their price.

4. Ruger SFAR

Normaly, I’m hesitant to recommend a product that is new on the market. The Ruger may not have a track record of long-term success, but it compensates for this with some excellent features.

What makes it unique? It weighs an astonishing 6.8 pounds. Ruger was able to achieve this by using a platform of the AR-15 size that allows the magazine to be stretched out well enough to fit the.308 cartridge.

Ruger uses a 8620 steel bolt carrier and proprietary super steel bolts and barrel extensions to ensure it can handle the increased recoiland wearing produced by the large cartridge.

Gas system mid-length with a 4-position gas block. This helps to ensure reliability and functionality for the most common ammunition available on the market.

You also get a Ruger Elite 452 2 stage trigger, a 15 inch free-float MLOK handguard and Magpul MOE furnishings.

What’s the best thing about it all? The AR-10 is one of the most affordable AR-10s available. It costs between $1,000 and $1,200.

How does it shoot?

Other reviewers have reviewed the device.

Depending on the ammunition used and the shooter, the general consensus is that rifles can shoot between.5 MOA and 1.5 MOA. The SFAR is right on par with other guns in this list. This is not bad considering the price and features.

5. Palmetto State Armory AR-10 (PA-10) Gen 3

The Pa-10 is the most economical on this list. This is because PSA manufactures everything in-house, from raw materials to finished product.

We have tested the Gen 2 and updated our full review to include the Gen 3.

The addition of an adjustable gasblock is one of the most important updates to the Gen 3 Model.

The.308 cartridge can be dampened to reduce recoil.

Often, PSA rifles in their entirety are not available.

You will also be charged an additional 11% tax on completed rifles.

You can also buy the complete upper and lower separately, since AR-10s have a modular design. You can save some money, and you have more control over the furniture/triggers.

Their 2-stage trigger and STR buttstock are my favorites for lowers.

For uppers, I like to go with 18-inch for a little extra accuracy and speed of the larger rounds. It’s also not as bulky as the larger 20-inch.

Be sure to get the combo with thebolt carriers group (BCG) AND charging handle (CH).

How does it shoot?

It works pretty well! It works well, especially when supported by a good bipod.

This rifle will shoot good groups and run well right out of the package for a price around $600.

The best AR-10 money can buy… if it stays in stock for long enough.

Reviews

PSA has provided me with two AR-10 rifles.

This is the most common version, which has a great performance. You can see me shooting 600 yards easily in the review.

The AR-10 in Creedmoor 6.5 will remain supersonic up to 1,200 yards, and can still deliver a punch beyond that.

6. Sig Sauer 716i Tread

The majority of PPT staff have had the opportunity to shoot the Tread,. We all agree that it is awesome!

Johnny, the lucky recipient of a 716i for testing purposes, loved it so much he bought it for himself.

You can watch the video or read our article for more details.

This puppy can shoot. The groups are excellent right out of the package, the recoil soft and the overall system is well-tuned.

The gun also has a Magpul handguard, an M-LOK stock and almost all Ambi-controls.

The charging handle and trigger aren’t great. This rifle is a great deal of gun for the price.

It’s really a close call between this and the Aero Precision M5E1.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am a big fan of the AR-10.

This is a rifle that can be finicky, but when it’s done right, it can be a joy to shoot and one of your most versatile gun options.

These guns are among the best available in their respective niches. They are ideal if you need to shoot something far away using a large bullet.
